To Mike, and all the staff at TopCats, Just a short note to say thanks for the best fishing I have ever experienced in my whole life. For anybody considering spending their savings on a fishing/holiday trip of a lifetime there are some very important considerations to make-:1 Are there fish of a lifetime to catch to make that long trip worth while?ANS.YES. I spent just 2 afternoon fishing sessions at TopCats Fishing from 3pm to 9pm and fulfilled some of my lives ambitions, I caught a Siamese carp of 401b a fish which I have tried many times to catch at other venues in Thailand, 2 x Redtail catfish both 501b plus, Again the most beautiful pristine fish I have ever seen, 2 x Giant Pacu (a sort of friendly fruit eating Piranha) a 55lb Mekong Catfish, And a Giant Alligator Gar at 351b plus (see the pictures) what a fish to show off to your friends and family with. You must agree not bad for 12 hours fishing, and these were the fish I landed, the ones that got away were much bigger (well they always are aren’t they) Every fish caught was in immaculate condition. P.S. I’m not a superstar angler it was all down to the guides. All I had to do was try and reel in some of the hardest fighting fish on the planet.2 Are the facilities first class and is every effort made to make your stay worthwhile, and do the guides make every effort to enable you to get the fish of your dreams on the bank?ANS.YES. the lakes are very well maintained the guides were outstanding and really go out of their way to help you catch. If you saw the way 2 of them dived straight into the water to try and UN snag a Giant Arapaima my friend hooked but unfortunately lost you would see the true dedication to their jobs. I myself lost 5 Arapaima through sheer bad luck, Not through the efforts of my guide who even in torrential rain rowed my baits back out to give me every chance of catching that real big one, So thanks again for all your efforts.3 Would your Wife or Partner be comfortable at Top Cats while you fished? ANS YES. The bar area was spacious, comfortable chairs, pool table etc. Even an outdoor pool which would keep her happy topping up her tan. Or she could spend her time eating as the menu was superb and the food was cooked and presented beautifully at the lake while you fish if you want .The quality of the food was as good as my wife and I got at the Dusit Thani 5* hotel in Bangkok. 4 Finally is it good value for money?ANS YES IT CERTAINLY WAS. The whole setup is there to make you welcome, and ensure you are hooked for life. My boss (non Fisherman) was on the island with his family the same time as me and my family, And I convinced him to come with me, He caught some dream fish Inc a boastful estimated world record Leopard Catfish, He did not weigh the fish as the scales were Away being ratified by the Igfa. So blown away was he by it all he is booking to go without the family In Nov for a week on his own. Cost wise It was about £45 for the afternoon Inc food beers and tips for the guides where In the world could you expect to go and catch such a vast array of quality pristine fish If someone could tell me anywhere else I would be very surprised as a footnote I would add that when I got back to the Uk I had 3 days on Redmire which would have cost £200 and never had a bite and lived on beans and pot noodles????
